Dextran is used as drugs, especially as blood plasma volume expander. It has found industrial application in food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries as adjuvant, emulsifier, carrier and stabilizer. Dextran is a complex branched glucan (polysaccharide derived from the condensation of glucose). The polymer main chain consists of α-1,6 glycosidic linkages between glucose monomers, with branches from α-1,3 linkages. The grade Dextran 70 stands for a polymer fraction with a molecular weigt of 70,000 Da.Show Less
